So I've been told to update my journal…
May 30th, 2001The weekend was reasonable interesting. Activities on Saturday afternoon involved air-pistol shooting, “Kubb” (a Swedish game), drinking champagne and so on. Afterwards, we walked to the restaurant thingy where the party proper was to be held. Dress was said to be “informal” but most of the men were clad in suit-like attire.
The people drank wine, gave speeches, sang songs and other such festivities to celebrate Görel's 50th birthday. Markus and his friends' band, Sauce, then played and all the old fogeys 50-somethings danced.
On Sunday, many played golf while I enjoyed the company of Anders' mother. She thought I was German.
On Monday evening, I went to see Sauce and some other bands play at the local “culture house”/library. The first couple of bands were humorously hopeless, but I thought the last bunch were pretty good. The singer was weird and stood on a table and held the microphone to the ceiling, sat down and chatted with someone during a song, acted horrified of the microphone and left the stage while the rest of the band was still playing.
Oh, and that doesn't remind me, Courtney got her tongue pierced.
The Sfi (Svenska för invandrare, Swedish For Immigrants) section of Komvux had a little tour around to see some sights in Kungsbacka today. One of these was Äskhult, a very old little 'town' with a few houses we could take a peek through. We also took a tipspromenad in some forest (answering questions stuck on trees and so on), on which Courtney and I came equal first, but with luck ended up with fourth-place prize. A packet of Fizzy Wine Gums.
I took some photos, maybe I'll put them up one day. With the rest of them… I think I need a negative scanner. Which reminds me, I bought a couple of black and white films today; hopefully I'll have lots of photo opportunities over the next few weeks, going to Abisko (in “the land of the midnight sun”) and all. Oh, and it appears as though Courtney and I are going to Skåne this weekend (if I can afford the train fares).
