Indubitably.
July 14th, 2001So, I've been away for a little while, and I'm going away for another three weeks from tomorrow (doubt I'll be updating my journal, don't know…)
Well, the time we spent in Värmland was quite enjoyable — it was warm, about 26 degrees and sunny a lot of the time. 26 degrees actually feels warm to me now.
We spent quite a bit of time at the “beach” (on the lake, no sand) swimming and so on… the family played a fair bit of golf (including competitions) at the local club and I followed along one evening and played a couple of holes (don't tell anyone!). They seemed impressed with my marvellous skills…
Oh! I had my hair cut for the first time in Sweden (I've been here over six months now). I don't know what the nazi with the scissors was doing though, I just wanted a little trim (mullet removal) and he went along and amputated more than half of my hair (so much for growing it long).
On Friday evening, I went to the first night of the Arvika festival and saw Mustasch, The Hellacopters, Sista Mannen På Jorden (”the last man on earth”), The Pusjkins and The Sisters of Mercy. It was pretty cool — fairly crowded though quite calm, and I missed quite a few good bands that were to play on Saturday and Sunday (PJ Harvey, Placebo, SPOCK, The Hives…)
On Saturday (yesterday) we drove to Smögen, a fishing/markets/etc type island/harbour that's supposedly rather famous. We had dinner with 'family friends' — which turned into a little bit more than just dinner…
It was good to see another part of Sweden and I managed to get some photos taken (I wonder if I'll ever get to develop them).
Then this morning, we drove home, and here I am. I'm leaving for Denmark by train just after midday tomorrow… I think I'll put up another photo before I leave. Not too exciting, but it's some girls marching in Denmark…
