Last week…
August 5th, 2001I feel very slow today, half-asleep, drained of energy and not at all happy. Oh well, you'll get over it…
I think now is the time I'm supposed to write the time since we left the school we were staying at during the first two weeks of the program. Maybe I'll even try not to make it sound so dull, because I had a lot of fun on the trip, more than I usually allow myself to have, and it could easily be said to be one of the best times of my life.
So, on the Saturday, we left the camp and the Danish (and German) students on a bus to Legoland in Billund. Almost everyone was crying, sad to be leaving their new friends and girlfriends or boyfriends (which I naturally found slightly amusing) and it was pretty hard to get going, but we left almost on time.
Legoland was actually rather fascinating, especially seeing models of buildings and places I'd been to. We went on a few rides (the lines were quite long), I took some photos, Daren wanted his picture taken with every dog he saw and I noticed the first signs of some kind of illness getting to me.
After Legoland, we continued on to stay at the YFU house in Tommerup for the night. It was a nice, big, old building but we were only staying overnight — just enough time for me to see something I didn't particularly want to see and practically lose my voice (unrelated events).
The next day, we went to the Lejre Researchcenter, where people lived and reenacted life from various times — the iron age, etc. It was pretty interesting, they had a viking show and a place where one could get themed, fake or real, tattoos. The weather was rather hot and sunny, making the day a little unpleasant. We hopped on the bus again, heading towards the school/conference centre we were to spend the rest of the week at.
Whoops, it's almost time to eat. Jessica, another exchange student that came with us from Australia, and one of her friends (visiting from her exchange in Belgium) are coming here to stay a couple of nights (we're going to Göteborgskalaset, a street-festival-type-thing) so I guess I'll continue later…
I took a (hell of a) lot of photos, about ten rolls all up, so I don't know what I'm going to do about processing those. Hopefully there's a good one or two in amongst them… ![]()
I've been keeping a written diary too, that's kind of fun…
